I-Spec II

A system of mounting the brake handlebars and handlebars on a single common clamp. This saves space on the handlebars. More space on the handlebars and a clean look. Maximum vertical adjustment range: 15 °, maximum horizontal adjustment: 12 mm.

Servo-Wave

A mechanism system in Shimano brake handles in which the lever force ratio is variable. It first appeared in the XTR group in 1992 and two years later was zimplemented in the Deore XT as well. In this version, the gear ratio increases with the pivot from the rest position. The brake cable attachment is not rigidly attached to the handle lever and can change the distance from the axis of rotation of the handle. In the rest position, the attachment is farthest away and as it swings out, it moves closer to the axis, so the power ratio increases. In designing this mechanism, Shimano proceeded from the assumption that at the beginning of the stroke the handle should pull a relatively large amount of cable, which is guaranteed by a small gear ratio, while once the brake pads touch the rim, the force ratio should be larger.
