Campagnolo is a pioneer in the production of bicycle drive components. The history of this Italian brand dates back to 1933, and from the 1920s the brand's founder introduced many innovative ideas into the world of bicycle parts. Some of them later became basic bicycle components like the quick release for wheels, derailleurs and the patented shifting handle that became the seed for the rear derailleur. Since the 1990s, Campagnolo has used carbon parts in its groupsets and developed its own wheel sets. In 2004, Campagnolo unveiled a compact crank that had front discs with fewer teeth. Campagnolo is currently developing electronic shifting systems. Its current focus is on road and track cycling. Few brands can boast of producing parts under an unchanged name for a number of years, but this is the case with Campagnolo, a paragon of ergonomics and build quality of bicycle accessories. The groups are invariably recognized by cycling enthusiasts for Record, Chorus, Athena and Veloce. Campagnolo products have always been valued for their rebuildability. Many old parts are still in use.
